My Style

I have always loved photography and the entire concept of taking a photo and freezing that moment in time, it’s literally priceless. When I go through the photo albums of my childhood I find myself drawn to pictures that are candid, natural & honest. I still enjoy the studio images my mom insisted our family get dragged too, but they aren’t the ones that give me goosebumps like the candid ones of real life, the ones that were at times blurry, or have a head half cut off, the ones of us goofing off in the backyard with dirty feet and stained oversized tee shirts. I love the photographic proof of our real life. So while I still laugh and enjoy the studio images we have, I also know that wasn’t the real us. We never left the house all dressed in matching denim with perfectly hair sprayed bangs. We were kids who loved to run around our house, had wind blown hair and found shoes completely optional. So that’s the side of people I want to capture. The beautifully honest & natural moments between people. Wrinkled shirts, silly expressions, PB&J stained cheeks, that’s the good stuff.

My goal is that everyone has a relaxing, enjoyable time during your photo session. I want you to feel comfortable, and I don’t want the memory of the session to be everyone frustrated while I force everyone to say cheese at the exact same moment. I want it to be fun, casual and happy, like I’m an old friend who’s just hanging out in your home, your yard, your favorite park, capturing your natural moments. You won’t hear me instructing facial expressions, I won’t insist a child sit still if a rock is calling their name and demands to be picked up. I never force a child to pose. If you are looking for images that are studio style with the goal of getting a image where “everyone looks directly into the camera and says cheese” I’m probably not the photographer for you. I work in all natural light, preferably outdoors and specialize in capturing YOU. My ultimate goal is that I present you with images that are beautifully natural and have a starring role in telling the story of this chapter in your life.
