I am so pleased to announce I got some great responses from my last post and I’m fully booked at the moment. So for now I won’t be scheduling any additional photoshoots. Thank you so much to all the people who contacted me and are trusting me to capture their family images, I’m so excited to get back to work!
In other news I wanted to share this landscape image I captured from my livingroom window this morning. This black bird (well I’m sure it’s more than just this ONE black bird) likes to hang out on the top of this collection of trees and I often look out and see him. So as I’m focusing on documenting the little events in our world I thought it was about time I caught a picture of him. I don’t usually take photographs that don’t include people, so this is a new thing for me, but I really love the way it turned out. I might end up printing too, it just makes me happy.

During my maternity leave I’d had a bit more time to reflect on my own personal family images. I realized how many of even my favorite snapshots were stuck on my hard drive and not on my walls and that really saddened me. I’m ashamed to say I tend to almost forget to print even the most special images. So I made it a point to print several large prints for my home. It’s amazing how much joy they bring me! Just walking through my home and seeing a 15×30 print of my precious baby’s face, or a 20×24 family photo of us – it’s just a constant reminder of our life, our family – US! So while my furniture here is just so-so, my house cluttered more often than not – all I have to do is look up on my wall and see a printed photo that for me and my family is the most gorgeous personalized art in the world! I get so excited when my clients order a large print, when the box arrives in the mail I rush to open it and it’s like Christmas to see my photographs as not just a regular everyday 4×6 or 5×7 , but as a true piece of art for my clients to enjoy every single day. It’s a true honor to be a part of that! Here is an example of one of my new favorites hanging proudly in our livingroom. Notice it’s right under the pack and play I change Claire’s diapers on regularly and a plastic container holding Kate’s puzzles, but hey, it doesn’t matter, cause the photo that I cherish so much – our first family image as a family of four is hanging above it!
