Three Years

Posted on February 23, 2009

Three years ago today…

My heart was stolen by a little baby girl. A baby girl that we’ve had the joy of watching grow and change into a curious, high-energy, creative, imaginative, fun & sweet little three year old. Happy Birthday Kate! Here is a collection of photos from the past year. It’s so cool to see how she’s changed. She’s not only lost some of her sweet baby chub and grown into looking like a big girl and not just a baby, but she’s also learned so much, her vocabulary has shot through the roof, she’s an avid bookworm, a huge Dora fan, lover of comfy clothes (jammies are her preferred attire 24/7) & her most recent responsibility – a big sister. Life with Kate isn’t without some hard work, but boy is she worth it. An hour long fit session is forgotten by me the minute she shares one of her endless funny sayings. She’s a blessing to our family and we’re so grateful she’s ours.

Best Buds, Blanket and Baby

Posted on February 18, 2009

I met my best bud Amy when I was 3 or 4 in the church nursery, she moved far, far away when I was around 7, but we stayed in contact through letters, phone calls, email and the occasional visit to each other and here we are in our late 20′s and we’re still friends! Totally a rare, cool thing, love her! When I was pregnant with Kate she mailed me this beautiful soft handmade blanket. I just love it! Love the color, the softness and most of all the fact that she made it herself. Here are two of my favorite images I captured with Claire and the blanket her Aunt Amy made.

Pink Heaven

When I first found out I was having my first little girl I was pretty pumped. I’m a huge fan of the color pink and had a wonderful time putting Kate in as much pink as I could get my hands on. I remember as she grew out of the outfits I’d pack them away all sad and hoping I’d get an opportunity to put another precious little girl in some of my favorite baby outfits…and I got my wish! My sweet Claire has arrived and just like her big sissy is being dressed, wrapped & surrounded my sweet soft pink.

My Sisters

Posted on February 6, 2009

My beautiful mom and sisters came to visit us for a few days last month to see Claire. It was so special to me that they endured traveling ALLLL the way from Oklahoma to see me in Germany. You see…my family (and myself) love traveling about as much as we love the flu, oh my gosh we HATE IT!!! We don’t even like a car ride that lasts over 45 minutes, so it was no small feat for them to come this long distance, enduring that grueling LONG trip and it’s something I completely and totally appreciate!!! Even though I was recovering from delivery I couldn’t let my sisters leave Germany without capturing some photos of them! So we made a quick trip to Wittlich and I captured a few photos of them. These are a few of my favorites:

Loving all the bits and pieces

Posted on February 1, 2009

I’m completely in love with my little Claire. She’s so tiny, warm & snuggly and I find awe in everything about her, love all the bits and pieces that make up her perfect little baby self. I’ve always been one of those people who notice the little details most would look over. I remember one particular incident when Kate was about 4 months old. I was holding her in front of an open window and through her ear I saw a tiny little vein and I started tearing up. Just so in awe that I could grow her in my stomach, that somehow my body knew how to give her the perfect place to grow, that God made her so perfectly, not even forgetting a thing, not even the little vein in her ear. :) Thinking back on that I can’t help but laugh, but at the same time I can’t write off the miraculous miracle of life. I haven’t put Claire in front of a window to catch a peek at her ear vein…but I’m sure once I do I’ll get a little teary again. So thankful for my two perfect healthy little girls!
