Ice Cream Date

Posted on August 30, 2008

With David gone I’ve been trying to come up with fun new ways to make a regular day at home seem more entertaining for Kate. Lucky for me she’s two and as long as I suggest an idea in a super fun tone she’s 99% likely to think it’s completely awesome. :) So one day this past week it had just been an unusually rough day, lots of fits and tears from my girl, lots of disobedience and me having to continually say no ALOT. So I knew we needed something to perk the day up. So I suggested that she and I have an ice cream date outside. The word “outside” immediately perked her interest. So I made us each a little strawberry ice cream cone and we ate it out on the porch. I really talked it up and made it sound AWESOME and just like I’d hoped she ate it up! She was so excited and even eagerly posed and let me take pictures of her. This is my favorite from the photos I captured…but there are still lots of others I love as well!

Cheesy Smile

Posted on August 15, 2008

Kate has become quite an expert on cheesin’ it up for the camera. I bring it out and she happily shows her pearly whites and expresses the most fake, yet completely adorable smile. The thing I love most about it is that it highlights her little extra dimple that is just to the right of her chin. I call that dimple her “bonus surprise dimple” I didn’t even KNOW she had it until she was about 4 months old and she happened to make her very first classic cheesy smile for me. I was so excited about it!! I’m a HUGE dimple fan, can you tell??? I love that I get to capture that precious dimple all the time now!
The one little thing about her classic cheesy smile is that it doesn’t last forever. I imagine this is maybe what goes on in her mind when she sees me break out my camera, “Oh I see mom has the camera! Okay, time to perform! Tilt head, look right at the camera, say “CHEESE!” Okay wait…she took the photo…why is she still clicking away? Well I guess I need to keep this smile up, but gosh it’s getting old. I’d really like her to stop so I can get back to playing”. So while it’s a precious smile and I COMPLETELY appreciate her hamming it up, I do have to be QUICK, cause the smile’s lifespan is very short. This is the first time I caught a series of photos that captures the fading smile SOOO well. It was dropping literally by the second. I even looked up the camera data and recorded the time differences between these three photos…check out the time differences! Thankful for this lightening quick camera I have! (And I’ll go ahead and give props once again to David for surprising me with it!)

Us – Kate and Mommy

Posted on August 10, 2008

So last weeks little impromptu photo shoot with Kate and me produced pretty good images. I still find that incredible since I had my camera set up on a timer, ontop of a barstool and then a bunch of books to get the height “just right” (Tripod? Oh who needs those pesky things! HAAA!) This was David’s favorite photo! The quality is pretty bad (it’s hard to get setting right on timed photos), but I do love the expression on my sweet girls face. And this is really how we spend a lot of our days, just laughing and enjoying each other with big cheesy smiles on our faces! She might not look anything like me…but boy can she rock the cheesy smile just like her Mama!

Check the out Traci Murphy’s shoppe later today when this cool collab Pure Energy with Cori Gammon is available for purchase. Everything but the date stamp is from their kit.
Got a “big” day planned. Includes a big work out session (gotta work off the lemon blueberry muffins I just devoured!), post office trip, commissary trip and of course no outing is complete without at least a half an hour spent at the Play Park!!!! :)
Blessings!

Me and my girls

Ever since last week when I found out that I’m expecting another precious girl I’ve been wanting to have a picture of me with my girls. Finally got it today. Thank goodness for camera timers and a semi-cooperative toddler. :)

Pregnancy Stuff

Posted on August 3, 2008

I love bring pregnant. I’m more chill, more happy, laugh more, I swear my own mental outlook on life improves the second my body starts incubating our precious kiddos. I can’t even tell you how many times I get overcome with a giggling fest, one complete with tears streaming down my face. It’s AWESOME!!!!! Usually the laughing fits are a result of something quite simple and not even all THAT hilarious, but it gets me and then before I know it BOOM…I’m overcome with giggles and have to try and contain myself  so that I don’t make a scene. HAAA!!! Another fun pregnancy element is being pregnant along with celebrities. I had Kate within a couple of months of Violet Affleck, Suri Cruise & Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. Of course the depressing element of that was that Jen Garner, Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie looked way better at 9 months pregnant than I did…but I choose to believe it was cause they had the best stylist and endless wardrobe funds. :)

So upon a little research I realize that this time around I’m pregnant along with more celebrities! The first being good ol’ Michelle Dugger. She’s pregnant with #18. Wow…EIGHTEEN children, I can’t even fathom. You know what though, Michelle and her husband seem like the most WONDERFUL parents. Of all the couples in the world they seem like the ones who are the more patient and loving and if they want 18 or more, they seem more than qualified! Another reason I admire them is because they support their children fully with no assistance from other sources. They are hero’s in my book for that reason alone!!!  I’m assuming she experiences the same mental happiness as me while I’m pregnant, which is why she just keeps popping them out time after time. :)
Another celebrity pregnancy I just discovered is one from none other than a scrapbooker who I’ve followed and have loved for YEARS!!! The awesome Ali Edwards! I’ve followed her journey caring for her autistic son Simon and have always admired not only how hands-on and positive her mothering instincts seem to be, but also her beautifully real journaling style with her scrapping. I’ve really gained a lot of inspiration from her journaling! Oh and her handwriting ROCKS!!! Seriously the coolest handwriting in the scrapping world!!!
And finally I was pregnant along with this celeb before, so it’s cool that it’s happened again. The beautiful Jennifer Garner is expecting her second…well I don’t think it’s OFFICIALLY been announced by her, but all the celeb magazines are posting pictures of her and saying she is, so I’ll just take that as good enough for now. :)
Wonder what other pregnant celebs will pop up in the coming months?

Exciting News

Posted on August 1, 2008

Just wanted to post very quickly and share our wonderful news. I’m expecting another baby girl. I’m so incredibly excited. Can’t wait to introduce Kate and her baby sister to the incredible world of sisterhood. So thankful this new baby girl will be born into a life instantly feeling so wanted and loved. So excited that she has a big sister so eager to meet her and be her lifelong friend.  I’m just so incredibly grateful my girls will get the joy of sisterhood like I so cherish with my own sisters. I’m feeling mighty grateful. So thankful for this miraculous opportunity of Motherhood. Seriously taking so much time to just sit and thank Jesus for this great blessing.
