One Step Closer to College
Posted on July 23, 2008
I haven’t actually read this anywhere, but I’m pretty sure you aren’t allowed to take pacifiers into your college dorms. I’m sure the list goes something like:
No hot plates
No alcohol
No pacifiers
No members of the opposite sex
Am I right? Does such a list exist? I never went to college so I’m just wondering aloud…
Last night was the first night she slept all night without it. This has been a long process! And this past week we’ve been in BIG TIME mental preparation for our little “sucker for sucking”. We have been down to just one paci for a week now, so when she couldn’t find it before bed I decided this was IT! She cried for awhile, but we talked it out and she slept great! Woke once, but went back down with a quick drink of water and not even a mention of the paci. I’m seriously SOOOO thankful this day has come! She was SOOOO addicted I seriously wondered if she wouldn’t deliver her own children and use her own pacifier for comfort in between contractions and use for bearing down during the contractions. While I’m thrilled that she’s old enough to not need one for comfort, I’m also kinda sad. This is a HUGE part of her childhood that is just up and gone forever, of course you WANT your children to grow, develop, move onto new milestones, so for that I’m thankful, but I suppose it’s just hard to see the last piece of baby-hood officially gone. I’m so proud of my girl though!!! As soon as she went to bed I tore the house up looking for that last paci, there was no way I was going to throw last nights work out the window by risking her finding it today and suddenly back to square one. So I found it and took one last photo. I’ve got this little guy hidden very well, but I CAN NOT throw him away. This will be kept along with her first lock of cut hair, coming home outfit and future lost teeth.
Goodbye paci, it was great knowing you. Glad to see you are retiring though!

YAY Kate!!! Congrats and I hope she keeps it up!
Members of the opposite sex weren’t allowed in dorm room? OOPS!
