Annie Pennington Photography Albums

Posted on July 28, 2010

I absolutely LOVE when my clients order albums. I cherish my own family albums so much and want all my clients to get that same warm fuzzy feeling when looking through their own personally designed albums. One of my recent clients chose to purchase my top package which includes an 8×8 album and 5×5 album and I’m so pleased with how well they turned out.

I love how sturdy and well constructed these albums are, the super thick substantial pages are what really sold me on offering these. I personalize the design based on my clients color preferences and location the photos were captured and I work very hard to create timeless albums that help make your photos shine.

They each come in their own high quality presentation box and are delivered to you eager for a permanent home on your coffee table where they are at easy access to thumb through and enjoy.

Beckie {Oklahoma Senior Photoshoot}

Posted on July 20, 2010

Do you know how when you initially meet someone you instantly get a warm fuzzy feeling that the person standing in front of you a really GOOD person? Beckie is that kind of girl. Bubbly, sweet, adorable, good natured and she doesn’t get the least bit cranky when sweating buckets in the Oklahoma heat…and yes folks I know that last statement for a FACT! Meet Beckie, she’s one of my Senior Representatives and she’s soooo much fun!!! And just also happens to be COMPLETELY STUNNING!

See? I told you she was stunning! Beckie is more than just a pretty face though, she recently created this OUT OF THIS WORLD CREATIVE slideshow to one of her favorite songs. Click this link to view her work. I love it SOOOO much that I immediately bought the song. SOOOO good! I’m just so impressed at her creative ideas!
Remember during my last post I mentioned how amusing I am?? Well I MIGHT have been slightly exaggerating since I’m more of just a certifiable goofball, but none the less Beckie amused me and laughed constantly thoughout the photoshoot. The verdict is out though: Am I funny? Or do my clients pity me and laugh at me despite my dork-factor?? Hmm….well for whatever the reason check out these BEAUTIFUL images I captured of Beckie and her beautiful smile! I love how she rockes her model expression and then I said something clever (or just goofy) and she then flashed her killer smile!

I’ve had this idea for awhile to convince a client to basically really forcefully shake their head back and forth over and over…and my gracious, seeing that written out sounds completely insane!! But none the less Beckie went with it and I LOVE how fun these images are!!!!!!  SHE IS SO ADORABLE I CAN HARDLY STAND IT!!!! Can you see these pictures without feeling the urge to belt out the line from Outkasts Hey Ya? “Shake it, shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture” ????

I love this shot endlessly! Check out how she’s working it and twirling her hair, my gosh the camera loves her!

I happened to look over and saw this truck parked casually on the side of the street and I instantly fell in love with it for several reasons:
1. It’s old and beautifully used
2. It’s a vibrant blue
3. No one was around and it beckoned me to use it as a prop. Yes, seriously…it beckoned me.
Beckie agreed it was rad and posed it up.

I LOVE jumping pictures and Beckie got some serious air. These make me SOOO happy, it’s impossible to see these and NOT smile! I love how much energy she has and how well that came across in these images.

When Beckie first emerged with this outfit on I was SOOOO ecstatic!!! I LOVE the gold jewelry and the little black dress – CLASSIC GORGEOUSNESS! Her outfit just popped against this background too.

I actually went on this photoshoot with the goal of using shadows in a more creative way…and I LOVE how this turned out.

This building makes my heart go pitter pat. The texture, the ivy, the light sunlight spilling across the image….I LOVE THESE IMAGES SOOOOOOO MUCH! I think Beckie might have been a witness to a happy dance when we came across it. I am a bit confused as to how a branch came to come out of the window, but MAN does it work. I hope they NEVER REMOVE IT!!!! This location is pure awesomeness. And can you stand how modelesque Beckie is??? She’s too beautiful for words!!!

Anyone wanna take a guess what year she’s graduating?? ’11 BABY! Dance it up and hold up those index fingers and rock your graduating year!! Love that we got this silhouette shots before the sun set completely.

Beckie – you are such a wonderful person and I had a lovely time taking your photos and getting to know you. I really do appreciate you being in such good spirits even as we were sweating our guts out. Hope you love these!

Megan {Oklahoma High School Photoshoot}

Posted on July 13, 2010

About two months ago I announced I was taking applications for High School Senior Representatives and Megan was one of the applicates, I’m SOOOOOO excited to show her off to you all!! Megan is sweet and fun and has a fantastic smile and was such a joy to photograph.

She’s not only sweet she’s an incredibly good sport. For starters she agreed WITHOUT COMPLAINT to start her photoshoot at 6:30am. Yes, you read that right – 6:30 AM!! She was even right on time. We were attempting to avoid the miserable muggy Oklahoma weather, but didn’t really succeed, my gosh it was so humid out!! Still she never complained and just was a good sport the entire time!

When I had her sit for the following photo a cop car came whipping around the corner and stopped to chat with us. I was SOOOO NERVOUS and was looking around frantically trying to figure out if I was in ANYWAY breaking the law – I wasn’t on private property but I was FREAKING OUT INSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ends up the cop thought she had fallen and was checking on us. HAAA! For the rest of the photoshoot he’d drive by occationally and Megan would make sure and wave at him each time, very cute!

Oh Megan…you are beautiful!

One of Megan’s best assets is her gorgeous smile!!! And for some crazy reason she actually found me amusing which worked out BEAUTIFULLY since she flashed her stunning smile so many times!
Picture #1: Fierce Megan – that’s right girl, WORK IT! It wasn’t even hard for her to rock that first expression, I basically said, “GO!” and there she went, being awesome!
Picture #2. Annie goofiness begins, causing a natural awesome smile.
Picture #3 Officially succuming to a deep belly laugh caused my yours truely. This happens often…I’m just THAT funny.

Isn’t her outfit ADORABLE?! I love that she’s an Oklahoma girl who knows how to find her country side. :) CUTENESS!!!

SUCH a pretty girl!!! And see that adorable smile on the right…yup that was my doing. See? I told you I was funny! (Well at least to Megan I am. Hee-hee)

And in closing my FAVORITE from the entire session. LOOK AT THAT SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just gorgeous!!!!!

Watch for Megan later on during the school year when she she’ll have a second session with me to help document her senior year. I’m SOOO glad she applied to be my Senior Representative to help represent my business and tell all her friends about how OUT OF THIS WORLD funny I am!

Josh {Conceptual Mad Men Photoshoot}

Posted on July 12, 2010

When you think of a Librarian, what mental image do you have? I had two stereotypes in my head.

1. Large mean woman with thick glasses and a large hairy mole on her chin, not at all friendly or kind and constantly spitting out “SHHHHHHH!” at all the children.
2. A very skinny malnourished woman with thinning hair who is friendly..but is hard to get to know because she doesn’t like chemicals and as a result refuses to wear deodorant.

Neither of these mental images I had are AT ALL fair…in fact I am embarrassed that is what I used to think!! You see this boss gentleman Josh is a Librarian:

And he doesn’t fullfill my former stereotype AT ALL, and God bless him for it! You see he started as a friend of my sisters and when I moved back I started going to the library to get books for my kids and just like my sisters I realized he’s pretty darn interesting and before I knew it I was also chuckling at his endless cleverness. He’s introduced me to amazing music and is sure to amuse me each time I read his latest facebook status message. He’s one hilarious fellow…of course this photoshoot wasn’t meant to focus on that stuff…instead the theme was  ”1960′s After Hours Businessman” and he spent the shoot pulling out his inner Mad Man. (And as a side note this is my MOST FAVORITE SUN FLARE PHOTO EVER!!!!!!)

When I suggested this idea to him he was all about it…and he went out and found the perfect attire and accessories. I was really so excited with how well he took my vision and then took it to the next level. I was SOOOOO excited when I saw his outfit. AND the briefcase?? Are you kidding me Josh??  YOU ARE BRILLIANT! Every business man needs a briefcase!

And even though he and I hate smoking more than almost anything else in this world we knew to fullfill the concept we would HAVE to include a cigarette in some way or form…so he was such a trooper and pretended to smoke the cancer stick like a champ. It fits with the theme SOOO well!

This man is going to be famous one day. He might not think it, but I KNOW it. He’s a brilliant writer and when he becomes famous one day and writes his novel I’m hoping he’ll let me photograph his image for the book cover jacket. And that’s a glass of scotch (well actually flat Pepsi), but we needed to include an “evening beverage” in this businessmans hand… :)

Try to contain yourselves ladies…but I will go ahead and let you know this dark haired, blue eyed stud is single…but my gosh contain yourselves!!!  No reason to go screaming and getting all flustered, he isn’t a piece of meat, he’s a PERSON! You may email me a full description of yourself including favorite music, movies, social security number, blood type and weather or not you enjoy sunset walks on the beach and if my sisters and I see you as worthy we MIGHT tell him about you…LOL!

And in closing my favorite!! His last name starts with L so this location was PERFECTION for him!!

Thank you Josh for being such a great sport as my sissies and I lugged you around on a miserably hot & muggy Oklahoma evening and thanks for helping me realize how totally rad Librarians can be!

Things I’m Loving

Posted on July 5, 2010

I wanted to share a few things that I’m loving these days. No real rhyme or reason to this list…just simply stuff I LOVE!

Ruche – I just discovered this clothing website a few days ago thanks to a facebook ad. (Yes…I’m one of those people that notices those ads and regularly clicks on them to see what the dealio is, I’m such a sucker for advertising and marketing and pretty shiny colors…) This clothing is beautiful, delicate and feminine and oh my goodness I want to dress like this all the time!!!! I’ve got my eye on a few pieces I might actually take a chance on and buy…but I have this odd frame that is challenging to buy for…which is why I look homeless half the time in my ill fitting clothes but…Ruche, oh amazing Ruche you just might make me dip my toes into the water of looking decent. I’m 28, is that too old to pull off hair accessories? Or shall I say am I personally too old for such awesomness? I feel like I’m not nearly nifty enough. But I REALLY would like to try! And as a side note their catalogs are GORGEOUS!!! I’m browsing through them getting soooo inspired from a photographers stand point. Gorgeous stuff!

Elizabeth and the Catapult – I have my sister Sarah to thank for opening my ears to this fantastic group. I love how mellow their sound is. How rich the lead singer Elizabeth Zimans voice is. I love them!! Right Next to You is my new favorite song these days. Give them a listen, you won’t be disappointed! Well unless you naturally have a horrid taste in music, then of course you wouldn’t appreciate Elizabeth and the Catapult…duh.

Get Uncommon – I’ve been on the lookout for a company like this ever since I got my iPhone…which unlike the rest of the free world was a mere three months ago. This company rocks though and allows you to design your OWN personalized iPhone covers. They are a bit on the pricey end, but I think it’s a small price to pay for that level of customization! I just ordered one today for my incredible sister in law Ashley, and if hers turns out I’ll order one for myself. You see how selfless I am?? Thanks Ash for being cool with being my guinea pig.  In all honesty it looks like an amazing case and has tons of positive reviews! I can’t WAIT for it to arrive!!

My Mother – who as you notice is the only one on this list without a link and you wanna know why? Cause she’s too cool to be connected to any social networking sites, too busy being awesome to have time for a blog, she’s beautifully “un=plugged”. I love her for it too! She’s like this well kept secret only a few people get to be privy too and I’m excited I’m one of the few. She has MANY talents, she’s seriously the most creative person I know! She sews, cooks, gardens, builds (she takes power tools to school!), scrapbooks, crafts, creates amazing things out of literally anything, it’s amazing! I have full faith if you gave her a few empty milk cartons, screws, a broken down wooded fence, some paint and a bag of mini carrots she could fashion a desk and rolling chair…no lie. So my genius mother found this listing on Craigs List for a dining hutch and she talked me into going with her to check it out. You see I’ve been searching for a hutch for awhile, but I’d been looking at (get ready for it) furniture stores. Which my mother chuckled at. She sees no reason to go to furniture stores and pay full price when you can compile your milk cartons together and make something yourself! So we go check out the hutch and while I didn’t care for the color…the bones of it was perfect. I loved it! So I bought it on the spot and my mom, me and the nice lady who was selling it lugged it into my moms truck and we took it to my parents house and I really wasn’t sure what would happen at that point. Well a few weeks later I show up at my parents house and the most GORGEOUS hutch is there, it’s painted my new FAVORITE color (turquoise) and is PERFECTLY distressed. Oh it’s PERFECT! I later found out that she also got some sanding help from my precious Daddy. Just check out their amazing work!!!!!

I am BEYOND blessed to be her daughter and have her so excited and willing to help me create beautiful furniture pieces for my home. I’m just endlessly grateful! And she is also the one who helped me track down most of the white dishes on display on the hutch. I LOVE white dishes and have them all over my kitchen, but the soup pot/gravy bowl is the latest find (top center). AHHHHHH love!!!!

Vintage Photoshoot – Oklahoma High School Senior Photographer

Posted on July 3, 2010

I’ve been busy working on my High School Senior Representative Program. I’ve chosen some seriously FANTASTIC Seniors and I’m BEYOND excited for their photoshoots, I can’t wait to reveal who they are and show you how AMAZING THEY ARE!!!! Since my Seniors are all so unique and fantastic I’m on the lookout for unique and fantastic locations to conduct thier photoshoots. I try so hard to choose locations that are perfect for them and match their outfits, personalities, activities, etc., etc., so the other day I talked my sisters into coming along with me so I could experiment with a few new locations…they did SOOOO amazing.

Prior to going on the photoshoot I expressed to them how much I’m wanting to experiment with “conceptual photoshoots” where it begins with a concept and then lets that concept or theme control the mood and feel of the photoshoot. I told them the concept I was wanting  for this shoot was “vintage”, this was a rather broad idea, but this is all an experiment at this point. I was SOOOO impressed with the outfits and accessories they put together! Sarah looks beyond incredible here!

And look at pretty Bethany rocking it out too!

This old house makes my heart pitter pat. When I was scouting out locations out before hand and I drove by this house I literally SCREAMED with excitement!!!! The whole vibe that this old bungalow gives off is beyond incredible.

I’m so pleasantly surprised at the amount of gorgeous ivy available here. I really thought when I left Germany it would be it – no more gorgeous ivy covered walls and I couldn’t have been more wrong! Check out the expressions on Bethany and Sarah’s faces – INCREDIBLE!! They are so fierce! You’d never know we were MELTING in the harsh Oklahoma sun in the middle of the afternoon (yes, I know it was crazy to even attempt a shoot at 2pm, but we were too excited to wait until a later time! HAAA!)

And in closing my favorite from the shoot: This old gas pump is such a gem…it’s like stepping back in time! Expect to see this gem appear again and again…it’s too incredible not to use more than once!!!!

Thanks Bethany and Sarah for dressing up and playing along with me and my random ideas. Thanks for not complaining about the heat (I was personally complaining enough for the three of us, right?). Thanks for being such great sports and laughing it off as a few locals drove by and gawked at you gorgeous girls modeling it up in the middle of town. YOU ARE SUPAH STAHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bethany & Jason {Oklahoma Couples Photography}

Posted on June 19, 2010

Have you ever seen the movie Finding Nemo? You know the character Dory who is so quickly distracted by everything and anything shiny and interesting? That’s how I am in a new location while discovering new little areas to capture photos. One second I’m running towards a certain door, then before I even completely check out the door I see a wall with peeling pain (GASP! My favorite) and then I’ll notice the sun peeking through some buildings JUST right and then throw my subjects in line with the light and start clicking…but then I see an awesome field…well you get the idea. I get SOOOO excited I just start jumping and skipping and galloping towards areas and my clients are trudging behind me wondering how much coffee I injested that day. But none the less it’s FUN STUFF!!!! I had a quick photoshoot with my sissy and the special guy in her life and they were troopers and ran along with me so well.

I love brick & I love peeling paint put them together and you have a wall I loved so much I wanted to hug it. But instead I had Bethany hug Jason. Cause me hugging a wall? Well that really doesn’t make nearly as much sense.

My goal with this photoshoot was too experiment more with light and I’m soooo thrilled with how these turned out. I absolutely adore the hues in these.

And the sunflare in these makes me sooooooooooo happy!!!!

More peeling paint and this time in BLUE!!!  I don’t know who let this building fall apart but whoever they are – THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!  These images make me so darn happy!

I love ivy so much and this quaint little building was just too perfect for words!

I LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And in closing my favorite…I love that they never questioned my sanity when I asked them to lay in the road. Turned out SOOOOO GOOD!

Thanks Bethany and Jason for being willing for me to lug you along as I experimented with a new location and some new ideas. YOU ROCK!

Kennedy {Oklahoma Baby Photography}

Posted on June 10, 2010

I’ve known Kennedy’s Mama for 10 years…what?? TEN YEARS??? How has that much time passed since we started working at the very same place on the very same day? (Remember those awesome early days of training, Jessica?? HAAA!) Jessica from the very beginning was one of the most kind hearted, sweet people I’ve ever known and it makes me so very happy to see her as a Mommy. Daddy Kyle is already clearly in love with his new baby girl, seeing him snuggle up with her is one of the most precious sights. I just adored spending an afternoon in their home capturing a few photographs of their fresh from heaven little one.

Baby Kennedy is a precious little miracle. She doesn’t it know it yet, but she’s a been prayed for and wished for and loved for much, much longer than her one month on earth and her 9 months in utero. She has been born into a loving, happy family who are surrounded by love and attention and prayers. She’s a blessed baby girl. And her parents are so blessed and thankful that she is theirs.

I love babies oh so much and Miss Kennedy is all things a baby should be – soft, squishy and smelling of fresh baby goodness.

Kyle is clearly smitten with his baby girl. It honestly makes me tear up a bit seeing how gently he holds her. She’s such a blessed baby girl to have him as her Daddy.

Look how Kennedy is looking up at him, yup…she’s gonna get spoiled by him for sure! :)

I adore these Mommy and Baby images so much. Look how happy Kennedy is with her mommy nearby. Just perfect.

And in closing I’m including my two favorites from the session. The following photos is just so sweet and peaceful, I love how content Kennedy is. All is right in her little world with Mommy and Daddy so close. I also love how she’s gripping Jessica’s top, so precious!

And can you even get over how gorgeous Jessica is here?! She just had a baby FOUR WEEKS AGO…yet looks like she just stepped off a red carpet event! Her hair is gorgeous, her eyes pop and she’s just flat out one hot Mama! :) Parenthood really suits these two so well and I can’t even express how truely thrilled I am for them and their little Kennedy blessing.

Kyle and Jessica – thank you for allowing me into your home and going along with all my suggestions. Kennedy – thank you for being a good sport with all the clothing changes and repositionings, you are such an easy going little angel!
